PRESBYTERY RESPONSIBILITIES

The presbytery has many Book of Order responsibilities.  They are listed at G-11.0103 and go from a. - z. and on to aa.  Letter f. says, "to provide encouragement, guidance, and resources to its member churches for leadership development, church officer training, worship, nurture, witness, service, stewardship, equitable compensation, personnel policies, and fair employment practices.  We are planning for more efficient and faithful ways to make this a reality!  Let us know where your needs are and which of your gifts you would be willing to share to meet the needs of others.

PRESBYTERY WIDE MISSION TRIP!

Mr. Steve Mentzer from First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster is willing to host a medical mission trip to Honduras from June 18th to the 25th.  You don't have to be medically skilled to assist!  This is for smaller churches that don't have a person who can plan a trip!  It will cost about $750 - $800 per person for the flight, lodging and food.  All the arrangements will be made!  We are limited to 10 - 15 folks!  It will be a great way of making new "missionary friends" in the Presbytery and an excellent way of serving Christ in another land!   Sign up today by sending an email to: Charlie Gross at: cgross@donegalpby.com

MISSIONAL CHURCH CORNER - BE REAL, NOT REAL RELIGIOUS

According to "Shaped by God's Heart," the second characteristic is to be real but not real religious.  Missional churches are communities of authentic disciples.  The faith is not a "Sunday religion," but a vibrant relationship with the God of mission.  Christianity is first and foremost a relationship with Christ as the defining and motivating reality of folowership.  These churches also value accountability for behavior.  According to Jamye Miller of Christ Fellowship, "the only way a church becomes 'real' enough to 'speak the truth in love' is through establishing authentic relationships that value personal accountability.  Jim Herrington, exec director of Mission Houston, "Without authentic spiritual and relational vitality in a local gathering of believers, the church does not have the resources that are demanded to engage transformation and to influence the world."

ONE GOOD IDEA

Rev Dr Ed Brandt would highlight missionaries by pre-arranging to have a phone conversation with a missionary during worship.  He would be able to have the conversation put into the public address system so that all could share in the lives of the missionaries.  The congregation could hear first hand reports from the field and have a time of prayer for these soldiers of Christ.  What a truly unique way to bring our witness to the world into our worship!
