MEMORIAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH - A SLICE OF HEAVEN

Christmas Eve at Memorial Presbyterian Church was truly a slice of heaven!  The worship service blended 3 languages - French, Spanish, and English, talents from members representing 9 different countries, and a Haitian choir singing in French!  This church began in 1869 as a mission Sunday School of First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster.  They are located at 426 South Queen Street in Lancaster and can be reached at (717) 394-0480 or MemorialPCSLanc@aol.com.  Rev Walter Chuquimia welcomes you to come to Sunday School at 10:00 am and the Bilingual Worship on Sundays at 11:00am.  Come, Stretch, and Grow with this multi-cultural body of Christ!  See what God is doing in Lancaster city!

PRESBYTERY WIDE MISSION TRIP!

Mr. Steve Mentzer from First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster is willing to host a medical mission trip to Honduras from June 18th to the 25th.  You don't have to be medically skilled to assist!  This is for smaller churches that don't have a person who can plan a trip!  It will cost about $750 - $800 per person for the flight, lodging and food.  All the arrangements will be made!  We are limited to 10 - 15 folks!  It will be a great way of making new "missionary friends" in the Presbytery and an excellent way of serving Christ in another land!   Sign up today by sending an email to: Charlie Gross at: cgross@donegalpby.com

MISSIONAL CHURCH CORNER

According to "Shaped by God's Heart, the passion and practices of missional churches," the fourth characteristic is to re-write worship every week.  Milfred Minatrea reminds us that God is the focus of worship (its not entertainment), worship is experiential and we prefer engaging in experiences rather than passively receiving goods and services.  He goes on to say that when only a few people are engaged in planning and carrying out a worship service, it is easy for folks to slip into the passive 'entertainment' mode.  But, when a larger number of members are actively engaged in planning, preparing, praying over, and expressing worship, it becomes more of a missional, vibrant, uplifting service to God.  Finally, the case is made that worship values creativity.  We could place a higher value on the creative gifts and talents of our members to express our God glorifying worship as a community!  There are many ways to communicate our love and response to Almighty God!  This 2004 book challenges us to "freshen-up" our weekly worship!

DISASTER RESPONSE FOR ASIA TSUNAMI DISASTER

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is processing an immediate response of $100,000 from One Great Hour of Sharing and designated funds to support regional church partners and their relief organizations.
