COMMUNION WORKSHOP!!!

Rev Dr Don Lincoln has graciously offered to host a workshop on Extended Communion.  Thursday, Jan 27th at Westminster West Chester from 1pm - 2:30 or so.

JANUARY PRESBYTERY MEETING UNOFFICIAL SUMMARY NOTES

*In worship, celebrated Lord’s Supper, Installed Elder Elaine Lenyo as Moderator and Dick Streeter as Vice Moderator, prayed for families experiencing a loss of a loved one in 2004, and had a prayer blessing the stewardship pledges.  In worship, had a stirring message from Col 1:15 – 23.  We are servants of Jesus Christ!  

*  Roger Uittenbogaard gave his annual report and highlighted the 15 vacant clergy positions, 20 new calls to pastoral positions, recognized David Hall (serving in Ivory Coast), collected $3700 so far for tsunami relief, will begin a search for the Assoc Exec Presbyter.

*  Charlie Gross highlighted the eNews, Survey of skills and needs, workshops planned – first one is Thursday, Jan 27th at 1pm at Westminster West Chester on extended home communion., Honduras medical mission trip – informational meeting held on Sun Jan 23rd at 2pm at First Pres Lancaster, sending Rev Gutty and Rev Fritts to Louisville to learn more about our “selective divestment” process.

*  Discussed the motion of First Pres Lancaster to rescind the actions of Presbytery in Sept when we voted to not pay the per capita of churches who do not pay it.  This issue was tabled until March.  The Presbytery wants the Moderator to create a task force to dig into this issue and bring recommendations to the March meeting (inc background info).

*  CPM certified David Taualofai and Sherry Elliott ready to receive a call.  Also moved Patricia Stoltzfus to candidate status.

*  Peacemaking Division of Outreach highlighted the Diversity Camp experience at Camp Donegal.  This will be held from July 3rd to the 8th for 7th and 8th graders.

*  Chaplain Lee Vermont gave an emotional briefing about his 32 days in Iraq.  Emphasized the ministry to Guard and Reserve members returning from Iraq.

*  National Transformation Conference – July 14 – 17 at Columbia Univ NYC – send teams of people and ask Vitalization Division for scholarship money!

*  New Church Development looking for more partners for La Iglesia and Oromo and for clusters of churches willing to launch new churches.

*  Mission Beyond – prayed for missionaries and tsunami victims, highlighted Marcia Towers and Honduras Mission Trip Jun 18-25.

*  Administration Dept asked for Transformation Consultant position to be approved – tabled until March.

*  May Prayer meeting will be held on May 17th at Memorial Presbyterian Church

*  Followed Overtures, Amendments and Review recommendations for proposed amendments to the constitution.

*  Camp Donegal gave out a bag of information and the Resource Center highlighted the hope in a box concept.
