TOP STORIES

Doug Baker, our missionary in Northern Ireland, will be hosted in the Phoenixville area during his stay in July.  He is still available for speaking and visiting for a few dates.  Contact him by email at doug.baker@dnet.co.uk to book him for:  July 2, evening of July 3, July 5,or July 18-23.

Mr. Jim Serum (First Presbyterian Church West Chester) and his daughter Carrie have completed an Access database to capture the survey data that is being conducted by the Presbytery office.  This database is very important for a number of reasons.  First, it will help our Nominating Committee members match Department needs with skilled servants.  Second, it will help us match ministry needs with skilled people to meet those needs.  Third, it will help us focus our energies on those areas which need attention.  Jim and Carrie, Thank-you! Very  Well Done!  You are such a gift to the Presbytery and our ministry!

Synod of the Trinity Committee approves Seminary Intern Grant.  The Synod Committee overseeing the Seminary Intern Grant request approved our request!  We are now working on meeting their conditions, but certainly appreciate their favored response.  It's great to be working collaboratively and "connectionally" on missional projects with the Synod!

There will be another Natural Church Development Workshop on June 25th. Learn about principles for church health uncovered in a world-wide research project (1994-1996, encompassing 1000 churches in 32 countries.)  Workshop is:   Saturday, June 25th from 10:00 - noon at Bellevue Presbyterian Church, Gap.  Registration is preferred by calling or emailing Charlie Gross at the Presbytery Office.  Phone: 717.392.4035 or email:  cgross@donegalpby.com  Please register at least by Thursday June 23rd!

It's Budget Time Again!  The Department Chairs, Division Chairs, Committee Chairs and others who impact our 2006 Presbytery budget will be discussing their inputs to the 2006 budget.  The Finance Division envisions a late June meeting to pull these numbers together.  This year we will be comparing our new Mission and Vision statement and Priority/Goal Areas with our budget to start aligning our goals with our financial resources.

MISSION INFORMATION

Mission Trips 2005-2006!  There is a great new resource out from the National Volunteers Office (www.pcusa.org/nvo) that catalogues mission trips across the USA.  It can be ordered free at: http://www.pcusa.org/nvo/resources.htm  The PDS is: #7221904201.

Trips to highlight in this issue:  Alex and Kiran Wimberley in Sri Lanka - hear about this trip at the June Presbytery meeting.  Forks of the Brandywine - sending 14 missionaries to Washington, PA for inner city work, and 16 missionaries going to Pikesville, KY to help in this economically challenged area.  Great Valley going to Champfleuri Bible Camp in France to help with the camp.  Covenant is going to Fayetville WV to serve in a frequently flooded area.  Ten missionaries from across our Presbytery (and beyond) are going to Honduras to operate four medical clinics - bringing health and hope to hundreds of God's children in that area.  Please pray for each of these missionaries and these trips. Send us your stories when you return!

LEADERS IN BASIC MISSION SUPPORT!

LOUISVILLE - Donegal Presbytery in Pennsylvania led all 173 Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) presbyteries in giving for the General Assembly mission budget in 2004.

In a list compiled by the Mission Support Services office here, Donegal led all presbyteries in total and per-member giving for "basic mission support" - the portion of the denomination's $125.1 million mission budget that comes from congregations. Basic mission support accounts for about 16 percent of the total mission budget.

Philadelphia Presbytery led in total mission giving, while Santa Fe Presbytery led in total per-member giving.
