Hurricane Katrina Response!  Many of you are responding with donations and "hands on help!"  Thank-you!   Keep us informed and we will try to help promote and communicate your trips, ideas, and reflections.  If you have questions or good ideas, send an email to: disasterresponse@donegalpby.com 

Lend-A-Hand Trips to aid Hurricane areas. Elder Robert M. Scarborough from Slateville Presbyterian Church has had great experiences volunteering with Lend-A-Hand.  He will be on the Oct 22nd trip with the Carlisle Presbytery. http://carlislepby.org/Hurricane.html  Read more about these trips, how to sign up, etc. at the above link. 

Guinston Presbyterian Church will be going to help John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 10 miles west of downtown New Orleans.  They will be sending a work team this Saturday for a week and want to send a larger group  Nov.4-12. The church was flooded with 4 feet of water. Its members are scattered across the country. They are trying to locate their members as well as find jobs for them and get their playschool running to provide daycare when jobs are found. There is need for major cleanup efforts. If you are interested in going or giving financial assistance, please call the Presbytery office for details at 717.392.4035.  

Steps toward peace trip! - Join us as we apply to have a 3-5 member team travel with other Presbyterians on April 25-May 5, 2006 to Israel/Palestine.  Applications are available on line at: www.donegalpby.com They are DUE BY OCTOBER 29!  

Jim Wallis, author of God's Politics, is coming to McCaskey High School, Lancaster, PA on Tue., Dec 6th at 7pm.  Stay tuned.

October is the month for "Operation Christmas Child", a project of Samaritan's Purse, an organization which delivered 24 million shoe boxes full of gifts around the world over the past 12 years. UNIONVILLE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH will be participating again. Last year the church collected 100 shoe boxes. In November the boxes are delivered to a local collection point. The boxes are filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and much more. The Youth Group of Unionville Presbyterian are assisting the Membership Committee with this project. Paoli Presbyterian Church is seeking a part-time (twenty hours/week) Interim Director of Youth and Family Ministry. This individual will 1) In conjunction with the youth, Youth Committee and Youth Ministry Team develop and implement programs for the nurture and enrichment of our youth from December 2005 through December 2006; 2)  Engage in a comprehensive evaluation of Paoli's youth ministry and make recommendations to the Head of Staff concerning program and staffing needs; 3)    Select and supervise seminary intern(s) to enhance our ministry with our youth and their families; and, 4)  Help our members and attendees to live toward our congregation's vision. A Master of Divinity from an accredited seminary is required as well as training in the areas of youth ministry, human development and/or family systems theory. This position requires an engaging, compassionate, and grace-filled individual who has a heart for youth and helping them to grasp and be grasped by the Good News of Jesus Christ. Emerging Culture Conf in Hershey PA - John Eisenberg 717.682.7305Until then, here's some of the key details. On Feb 10-11, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and Derry Presbyterian Church will co-sponsor the Emerging Culture Conference. The curriculum, which recently received the Evangelical Christian Publishing Association Gold Medallion, was developed by a team of InterVarsity staff in conjunction with church leaders such as Brian McLaren, Becky Pippert, Dieter Zander, and Sally Morgenthaller. The conference will have six sessions-an overview of postmodernism, leadership, witness, communication, context and implications-that are designed to help pastors and church leaders understand the origins of postmodernism and consider it's implications for their ministry.
