"The post-denominational Presbyterian!" "Conversations on being the church in North America today!"  This will be a March 20th Pre-Presbytery Event with the Rev Tony Sundermeier!  You seriously do not want to miss this theological discussion!  It will be held at 1:00pm at First Strasburg Presbyterian on March 20th.  It will engage your mind around theology, emerging church, the reformation of our North American church, and our Presbyterian path forward.

NOMINATING COMMITTEES!  Probably the most important committee in your church!  Send someone to this Pre-Presbytery Event!  Does your Congregational Nominating Committee fill slots or guide the future direction for your church?  Will nominees be chosen as a reward for good church membership or because of their talents and gifts? How does a small congregation find the leadership needed for the work of elders and deacons? Nominating Committee members are Christ’s eyes, hands and voice.  They call new leadership into ministry.  How do we equip them to have discerning spirits in this work?  Let’s come together to learn more about how to form and equip your church’s nominators.

Presbyterians in the United States are being urged to celebrate a season of prayer and witness in support of Christians in the Middle East - writes Evan Silverstein for PC (USA) news.  The observance will take place between Easter (8 April) and Pentecost (27 May 2007) when every church and presbytery in the Presbyterian Church (USA) will be encouraged to plan events marking the occasion.  The idea is to lift up Christians in parts of the Middle East where their numbers are declining such as in Egypt , Lebanon , Iraq , Iran , Jordan , Syria and Israel/Palestine, said Kathy Matsushima, moderator of the PC (USA)'s Israel/Palestine Mission Network.  "Our prayers and support are vital to those vulnerable communities who trace the origin of their faith to the apostolic age, as they strive to be faithful witnesses throughout the Middle East ," Matsushima said.  What will you plan to do for our sisters and brothers in this region?

YOUTH TRIENNIUM - July 17 - 22!  For youth 15 - 19, plus adults 21 years and older to serve as advisors and small group leaders.  Held at Purdue Univ in West Lafayette, IN.  Theme is "Hope in Our Midst!"  The Presbytery will provide the bus.  Registration is $399.  To register or get more info, contact Betty or Kathy at the Presbytery office 717.392.4035 or betty@donegalpby.com

We have an exciting event planned for the missions community — a visit by Patrick Johnstone, author of Operation World. He will be in Philadelphia area April 20-21. Operation World, the authoritative prayer guide about the world and its unreached peoples has sold over 2.5 million copies and has been used by God to call many Christians to pray and to go. A conference will be held on Saturday, April 21, 8:30 a.m. to noon at Chelten Baptist Church, and is open to everyone, even Presbyterians!  Patrick will discuss our successes and failures in the 20th century and then present where our focus should be in the 21st century. We will also will have a panel of missions leaders to interact with Patrick. This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for anyone passionate about reaching the world for Christ. There is no charge for this event. A special event will be held for missions pastors and leaders on Friday April 20 from 9 a.m. to noon. This will be a forum where people like yourself and other missions-minded pastors can hear Patrick and interact with him and each other. We covet having the missiological wisdom of missions leaders to make this time of fellowship and sharing more meaningful and fruitful. This will be held at our WEC-U.S.A. headquarters in Fort Washington.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at 215.646.2322 ext. 101 or weclink@wec-usa.org. Mthatha Trip News - #3 - News from Bellevue Presbyterian Church (Louise Quinlan) Louise spoke with Kim yesterday and we have the following to report - Mike and Chris are staying together at the home of a “grandmotherly’ type lady who is an independent consultant sheet seller.  They are sharing a double bed with pink satin sheets.  Alex is at another home but they are together to eat meals and travel to the church which is 40 miles of very rough roads. There is an 8 year old grandson also living at the home where Mike and Chris are.  They are not doing mason work as the church was farther along so they are working on the manse and Chris will be able to do some tile work and working on the roof.  They are eating a lot of fiber (and getting fatter is the word) and a lot of pumpkin. They are taking a lot of videos of Mike eating. Church yesterday was 3 ½ hours long and very hot. They were having a celebration service and following the service they slaughtered 8 rams to feed everyone.

Does anyone have a large portable screen that we could project a movie on outside?  If so, please contact:  Rev. Jason T. Link, Pastor, Penningtonville Presbyterian Church, 406 Main Street, PO Box 282 , Atglen , PA 19310, 610-593-2173, http://www.penningtonvillechurch.org

The Rev. Donald G. Campbell, who served as director of the Congregational Ministries Division of the General Assembly Council from 1999-2006, has been named interim executive presbyter for Mission Presbytery, based in San Antonio , TX . Don began his new work March 1.

My youth group (Cedar Grove Presbyterian) has purchased mugs through ELY Associates to sell as a fundraiser. These are plain white mugs, but they contain an important message for all. One side reads: "WAKE UP AND TALK TO GOD," while the other side says "Cedar Grove Youth" in two typescripts. They sell for $4 each and make great gifts. If we sell all 105 of them, we stand to make a decent profit that should fund a number of youth activities during 2007. Most importantly though, the mugs remind each of us as we reach for our morning coffee of the most crucial thing we can do each day---"take it to the Lord in prayer." Please let me know if you'd like one or more mugs. We'll be happy to deliver.  Thank you and God bless! Ann Ash (stitcherama@yahoo.com )
