JUNE 21, 2005 PRESBYTERY MEETING AT HONEY BROOK

Presbytery Recap for June 21st 2005  (Unofficial Notes of the Meeting) Hosted by Honey Brook Presbyterian Church and Rev. Alex Wimberly.

Uplifting worship led by Alex, Howard Friend, and Alicia Conklin-Wood

Held a retirement service for Rev. Howard Friend and Rev. Alicia Conklin-Wood

Rev. Roger Uittenbogaard reported that Peace, Unity, and Purity Task Force member Sarah Sanderson-Doughty will lead a pre-presbytery workshop on Nov. 15th and speak at Presbytery.  The Presbytery of Donegal is the number one Presbytery for 2004 in Basic Mission Support (total support and total per member).  Roger recommended to Council the possibility of changing the March and September Presbytery start times to 3:00 pm.  This would be for pre-Presbytery workshop possibilities and allowing Elders to take less time off of work to attend.  The Council supported this and sent it to the Administration Department to report in September.

Rev. Charlie Gross characterized his kingdom work with 3 C's - Communication (eNews), Coordination (Honduras Mission Trip), Connecting (database of surveys and talents and skills).

The Nottingham Administrative Commission reported that the pastoral relationship with Rev. Lutz will be dissolved on July 15.  Also, the Session will be dissolved on that date and the Commission will act as the Session.  Linda Lutz presented a dissenting paper to the Commission's report.

The Interim Treasurer Allan Ziegler gave a report showing fund balances for 2005, but more analysis is required.  He is making great progress in this area.  We are about $45,000 short this year in mission $.

Nancy Reyes and Ernesto Badillo (800-773-7752 or 215-587-7200) www.pensions.org reported that the Pension plan is secure and that they stand ready to answer questions on pensions and benefits.

Don Lincoln reported for the Per Capita Task Force.  The Presbytery passed an amended version of their recommendation.  Basically, if per capita is withheld by churches, and if the Presbytery has unrestricted funds available to pay any or all of the unpaid per capita, the finance division will make a recommendation in March for the previous year and pay them only after a vote by Presbytery.

Rev. Dr. Bruce Stevens presented the Synod's narrative budget and thanked us for our stewardship of time, people, and dollars.

Kathy McGinnis was approved as a Candidate for ministry.

David Hall was approved to be ordained.

Committee on Ministry presented a 7 page report of their work.

Thomas Milligan to be ordained and installed at Little Britain on Aug 14 at 3:00pm.

Patrick Sileo will be ordained at Forks of the Brandywine on July 9 at 3:00pm.

Paoli is calling Rev. Dr. J. Patrick Vaughn to be their Senior Pastor effective July 18, 2005.

Outreach reported an excellent attendance for their Diversity Camp - July 3 - 8.  They are extremely grateful to Nancy Andress and Jackie Caleb for their work on this and are blessed to have Rev. Walter Chuquimia serve as the chaplain for this week.

Mission Beyond the Presbytery led us in prayer for the Medical Mission Trip in Honduras.

Alex and Kiran Wimberly presented and interpreted their mission trip to Sri Lanka.  Your prayers for this area of the world are still very important.  The way we witness to God's Grace and Love is critical!

Consider going to the New Wilmington Missionary Conference July 23 - 30.  www.nwmcmission.org
