GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR SYNOD-WIDE COMMUNITY  2009 SYNOD SUMMER CONFERENCE SCHEDULE CHANGES.  The Planning Team for the 2009 Synod Summer Conference, after realizing that we have been receiving lower registrations than anticipated, has made the difficult decision to scale down our upcoming conference to just one and a half days.  The event will begin with lunch on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 and end with a box lunch distribution on Thursday, June 11, 2009.  Exact times for activities are listed in the revised schedule below.  Please feel free to contact us at 800-242-0534 or cgray@syntrinity.org with any questions or concerns regarding these changes or the conference in general.  Abundant Blessings, Catherine Gray, The Synod of the Trinity

Samaritan Counseling Center’s Congregational Ministries of Healing and Wholeness Seminar Presents:   A “ NETWORKING  BREAKFAST” For Parish Nurses, Lay Care Leaders, and Clergy.  Saturday, June 20, 2009, 9:00 am – 11:30 am.  If you find our midweek seminars impossible to attend due to work and family responsibilities, here is an opportunity especially designed with you in mind! Time get’s away from us and does not provide enough opportunity to share and brain storm with each other in ways that can benefit our ministries and personal practice. This Saturday opportunity will afford you time to share experiences and concerns and hopefully discuss some questions like: 

            “What ideas/tools/activities are you finding most helpful for your parish nursing and health ministries?”

            “What are the most challenging aspects of your ministry?  How are you meeting these challenges?”

            “How can we be of help and support to each other by sharing resources?”

Holy Land Tour--Dr. David R. Clark is planning a tour to the Holy Land next March 3-12, 2010.  The tour to Israel will be through Jerusalem Tours International and will depart from Newark, NJ.  Dr. Clark is pastor of the Union Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood, PA.  This tour will provide opportunities to visit Biblical sites associated with both Old Testament and New Testament events.  Several Roman archaeological sites will also be visited.  Bible study will become much more exciting as you are able to visualize various sites mentioned in the Bible.  Union is located at 5637 Street Road just off of rt. 472 between Quarryville and Oxford.  The church phone is 717-529-2000.

 

Leacock Presbyterian plans Annual Hymn Sing Series - The seventh annual community hymn sings, "Singspiration", will be held at the historic Old Leacock Presbyterian Church, located at the corner of Old Leacock Road and the Old Philadelphia Pike, Intercourse, on the first Sunday of the month from May through September. The series begins at 7:00 p.m. this Sunday, May 3, with ensuing dates on June 7, July 5, August 2 and September 6. Lemonade will be served in the church courtyard each evening. English Presbyterian Church to host a Storytelling Workshop led by Michael Forestieri at http://tellitlikeitis.com/  on September 12 from 9:30 am until 12 noon. A light continental breakfast will be served. Doors open at 8:45. There is no fee but donations will be accepted. This is an educational event geared towards Christian Educators, Sunday School teachers, Youth leaders, Pastors, Camp Personnel, etc.

            “I have a gift to give you today. Funny thing is, you already have it! I’m just going to show you how to give it away to others.” These are the opening words for all of Michael’s workshops for beginning tellers of all ages. With a knack for seeing the potential in people and proven success in bringing out their creativity, Michael guides participants through his “A Gift of Story” workshops. “A gift, like love, is worthless until you give it away. To inspire, equip, motivate and encourage small PC(USA) Churches and to provide rest and refreshment for the Clergy and Lay Leaders of those Churches. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is going to have a new hymnal. “Committee members voted unanimously to change the name of the committee from the Hymnal Committee to the Presbyterian Committee on Congregational Song. National Youth Triennium for All Youth Ages 15 – 19! Get ready for - TRIENNIUM 2010! Once again Presbyterians from all over the world will converge on the campus of Purdue University for 5 days of incredible fun, awesome worship, great small groups and unforgettable friendships. Join us for the Presbyterian Youth Triennium, July 20 - 25, 2010!! The Presbyterian Youth Triennium is a gathering of 7,000 Presbyterian youth and adults from the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, The Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America, and the Presbyterian Church (USA).  Chris Rowles (Wayside) was a supervising adult for the 2007 PYT  and he is interested in spreading the gospel of Presbyterian Youth Triennium 2010 to the Churches of Donegal Presbytery by visiting all of the youth groups in the Presbytery largest to smallest. He has the video from the last Triennium and his own presentations and would like to make a presentation for the youth to let them know that this is a event not to be missed. His goal is to fill a bus with kids from Donegal Presbytery for PYT 2010. Please contact the presbytery office by return email as soon as possible so Chris can arrange meetings. We need the names of your youth leaders/pastors, their email and phone number, and meeting time of your youth group.

CHRISTIAN FORMATION INFORMATION

(6-4-09) Over the past few months  PCUSA  Young Adult Volunteers at sites around the US and around the world have been writing curriculum material for use this summer in PCUSA congregations.  It is now complete and ready for distribution.  Each session highlights one or more of the YAVs and their experience, relates it to a Bible passage and provides a lesson plan and discussion questions. There are lots of good photos and some video clips as part of the lessons.  You can check it out and place orders at:

We are seeking an energetic and creative full-time youth director to serve an active 2,200 member PC (USA) church in West Chester, PA.

 

This person is responsible for fostering a healthy community of students, grades 6 through 12, interested in following Jesus Christ. As Youth Director, you must also be a spiritual role model to help our youth grow in their faith journey. You will direct and develop a comprehensive Christ-centered ministry to our youth and their families through opportunities for worship, fellowship, discipleship and service to others.

 

Qualifications for this position include a strong personal faith consistent with confessions of the Presbyterian Church (USA) as well as significant teaching, relational and organization skills. Interested candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in religious or biblical studies and experience in youth ministry.
