EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR BRINGING THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS CHRIST TO THE WORLD!

May God Bless You All With a Very Joyous Celebration of the Birth of our Savior - Jesus Christ!  We live with Hope, Peace, Love and Joy!  Extravagant Blessings!

Turn the pages of your calendar…Lent is coming. The Lenten Lectionary Preaching Seminar will be held January 14th from 9-12 p.m. at Bellevue Presbyterian Church. The leader will be Rev. Dr. Robert Young. Please Register for this event by sending an email to Kathy@donegalpby.com

Please Note - The Presbytery of Donegal web presence is disrupted by a migration from D&E Jazzd to Windstream.net!  We are experiencing some technical difficulties during this transition.  Hopefully, we will be well before the new year dawns!

UPDATED INFORMATION NEEDED! Every three years, thousands of Presbyterian youth gather from all over the country (and throughout the world) for an amazing week of fun, worship, making friends, Bible study, play, rest and other adventures. High schoolers from our denomination, the Presbyterian Church (USA), will join our sisters and brothers from the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America, as well as youth representatives from sibling churches from foreign countries. Triennium happens on the campus of Purdue University, in West Lafayette, Indiana, and takes place July 20-24, 2010. You can check out the Youth Triennium website www.presbyterianyouthtriennium.org. PLEASE send us your updated youth leader contact information so that we can be sure to share news such as this with them. Even if you think we have it, please send the contact e-mail addresses for your youth leaders to kathy@donegalpby.com.

Rev. Gemechisa Guja will lead a mission trip to Dembi Dollo, Ethiopia during January and February of 2010. Dormitories at 3 schools will be repaired and painted. Costs for those wishing to go on the trip will be $2,000 for air fare and $700-800 for living expenses. Help (financially) is needed. Rev. Guja will be staying on for three months after the trip to conduct peace and justice programs in Ethiopian churches. Contact Rev. Guja for further information at guja12@hotmail.com.

Note from Barbara and Larry Moir: Gemechisa's trip to Dembi Dollo is where we are.  The folks will be staying in the guesthouses right behind us, so we will have the chance to visit as well.  It is also a good way to get out of the winter weather and into some spring-like temps and sunshine.  Folks can see what they mission dollars are doing - as well as give our school (BESS), the elementary school and the Bible College a big help.

IRS Announces 2010 Standard Mileage Rates. Beginning on Jan. 1, 2010, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car (also vans, pickups or panel trucks) will be:

50 cents per mile for business miles driven
16.5 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes
14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations

The new rates for business, medical and moving purposes are slightly lower than last year’s. The mileage rates for 2010 reflect generally lower transportation costs compared to a year ago.

Revenue Procedure 2009-54 contains additional details regarding the standard mileage rates.

Is Your Church Safe For Your Youngest Visitors?  Check out this website: http://www.christianitytoday.com/lyris/churchsafety/archives/12-10-2009.html

Christmas is nearly here, and churches across America are hosting special holiday events and worship services. This influx of new guests often brings an increase in babies and toddlers in the nursery. With swine flu still working its way through many regions, churches need to be more diligent than ever on making sure nursery volunteers are healthy, and toys and furniture are kept clean. Two resources on ChurchSafety.com can help: A Clean and Healthy Nursery and Preparing Your Church for a Pandemic, a download we're offering for free for a limited time!
